The first thing I remember about her is that she was insanely pretty. Then I noticed she had a lot of really cool clothes….and shoes….and makeup. Then I remember noticing that she already seemed to know everyone. Upon hearing the Lilly White Sessions playing on her stereo, I was thankful that we had a similar taste in music. “Phew, that’s such a relief!” I thought to myself as I dropped all my stuff on my bed. I had heard that having drastically different tastes in music could make life pretty difficult for the next 10 months.
Colette was my freshman roommate at the University of Denver. She is wonderful and I love her to pieces. The end. 🙂
I think it’s pretty awesome that two people from different backgrounds, families, and parts of the country can just randomly come together and wind up living with each other for the better part of a year. And not only live together but also wind up becoming friends in the process. I cannot think of a better person to have as my roomate! We had a very fun year figuring out college life together, trying to learn what we could cook in our dorm room microwave, taking inventory of how many crazy people lived in our dorm, and swapping late night stories about our lives.
Colette and I were both fortunate enough to meet the men we were going to marry at DU (there’s a pretty good crop of high quality guys there!). She and Nick met their freshman year and are getting married next summer in beautiful Minnesota. I had the absolute joy of photographing their engagement pictures this week! We headed to Boulder for their engagement session on a sunny 80 degree day, (anyone else think it doesn’t really feel like fall outside? It still feels like July to me…). This is probably my favorite engagement session I’ve done this year, I’m pretty much obsessed with every picture! Thanks Nick and Colette for hanging out with me for the afternoon, I’m so glad to be able to share these photos with you!
